Unit Artifact
From the Biodiversity unit, the artifact I chose was the fungi lab. Fungi is included in the 6 kingdoms that represent the way of life. Biodiversity shows how life on earth is, which it includes nature, diversity and ecosystems. If there was no fungi in an ecosystem it would make dead organisms harder to decompose, which means that they won't be able to recycle it to create energy. Fungi is important to society because many living things which include humans depends on it. It affects humans because we eat fungi in our food such as mushrooms (extremely healthy), bread and certain type of cheeses. Fungi is also used for medicine such as antibiotics such as penicillin.
This artifact came from the fungi lab that was conducted during class. During a period of time, humans start to learn that fungi just doesn't grow on trees and living organisms, they also grow on food. When food is broke down by fungi, it releases dangerous chemicals that can be responsible and lead to human diseases and death. The purpose of this lab was to find out the growth amount of fungi on Human's food and what causes it to occur. Where and what condition the fungi will start to grow on food like bread, and record the characteristics of the fungi on the bread.
The significants of this artifact is that it presents understanding about fungi. It shows the steps that occur from how the mould grows on this bread. It also gives students an idea on how to prevent fungi from occurring and growing on food.In conclusion, this artifact which is the fungi lab, it has shown students to observe and work closely to moulds and conduct information that textbook resources don't have. Students can observe and learn how the fungi grows, in these circumstances and different conditions. They will also think of way to prevent it from growing on food. This lab has gave me a better understanding on how fungi grows and shows how they adapt to different society conditions.
